Day 13 – A picture of your favorite band or artist.

(All images found via this isn’t happiness.)

Stone love – she kneels before the grave
A brave son – who gave his life to save the slogans
That hover between the headstone and her eyes
For they penetrate her grieving

New love – a boy and girl are talking
New words – that only they can share in
New words – a love so strong it tears their hearts
To sleep – through the fleeting hours of morning

Love is careless in its choosing – sweeping over cross a baby
Love descends on those defenseless
Idiot love will spark the fusion
Inspirations have I none – just to touch the flaming dove
All I have is my love of love – and love is not loving

Soul love – the priest that tastes the word and
Told of love – and how my God on high is
All love – though reaching up my loneliness evolves
By the blindness that surrounds him

Love is careless in its choosing – sweeping over cross a baby
Love descends on those defenseless
Idiot love will spark the fusion
Inspirations have I none – just to touch the flaming dove
All I have is my love of love – and love is not loving

Day 12 – A picture of something you love.

This kid! I love playing with her. I love watching her look at pictures of herself. I love holding her every night until she falls asleep. I love seeing her right after she wakes up. I love to watch her learn and invent and decipher. I love to smell her scalp and trick her into holding my hand for one second. I love our tickle/wrestle parties. I love how she loves books and animals and vegetables.

Day 11 – A picture of something you hate.

This is another assignment that I’m having trouble with. I hate a great many things, but none of them are very image-worthy. (Example: improper car-turning etiquette.) Anyway, here’s what I came up with:

(Full disclosure: I just thumbed through This isn’t happiness until I found something hate-able.)

JUST KIDDING YOU KNOW I LOVE KITTIES. Seriously. I don’t want to post any picture but this one.

Day 10 – A picture of the person you do the most messed up things with.

Um, I can’t do this because I can’t find a picture of what my imagination looks like. Also I don’t know if I do “messed up things.” ALSO THAT NEEDS A DAMN HYPHEN. COMPOUND MODIFIER.

Sorry. Lame post. But I’m working on some awesome ones!

Day 8 – A picture of the person who has gotten you through the most

Definitely not the best picture of any of us. But Newlin (somber Frankenstein’s monster in the back), Matthew (the ones closing his eyes to shield his cornea from the skeletal neon whiteness of my face) and Jennie (gorgeous one in the coat) are some of my dearest loves, and are almost certainly the people who have gotten through the most. Can’t begin to describe how much I love these people.

Day 7 – A picture of your most treasured item

This was a tough one. I actually try pretty hard to surround myself only with treasured items, so I considered just taking pictures of my entire apartment. But instead, here are three things that I have a strong emotional attachment to:

The ring: My mom gave me this ring when I was a kid. We don’t have any Native American blood on that side of the family (well, my stepdad does, but I guess that doesn’t count), but almost every summer we’d head south to Teasdale, Utah,  where some of my stepdad’s family lives. It’s a red-rock cactus-and-sage turquoise-gift-shop area, and this ring is a really treasured reminder of that part of my childhood.

The necklace: Also given to me by family when I was young. In this case, my paternal grandfather once gave me a little purple box with this necklace and two old gold-plated women’s watches in it, telling me (I assume jokingly) that they were mine and to never let anyone take them from me. I haven’t any idea about the context behind his words, but this necklace reminds me of him. It seemed like he was entrusting me with something incredibly serious.

The shirt: This is more or less the only thing I have left from a loved one who died more than two years ago. I still wear it all the time, and feel, well, exactly like myself when I have it on. Don’t know how to phrase it better.

Day 06 – A picture of a person you’d love to trade places with for a day.

Seriously. I would love to get inside this cat’s brain.

Also, Winston has just a ton of whiskers. I don’t know what the average amount of whiskers per cat is, but I get the feeling Winston is on the far end of the bell curve. He has Whiskers on the front of his cheeks, the back of his cheeks, his eyebrows, his chin, and his elbows. Beat that, other cats.

Day 5: A picture of your favorite memory

When thinking of my favorite memory, my brain first went somewhere that I don’t have any pictures of. But then, of course, I remembered that there are a plethora of pictures of the memory I value most:

Poor sweet baby. She was so pissed about being born. I could stare at this picture for hours, and it is the only photograph I have hanging on my walls. Gotta stop typing/staring or I’m going to start crying.
